Commemoration of 40th anniversary of the “Black April - Fall ofSaigon” on 30 April 2015 in McLeod Ganj:
1. Candle light vigil procession was carried out in support of and to commemorate the 40th Black April or the Fall of Saigon in the McLeod Ganj town. It started at the main square and ended at the local TCV Day School grounds, the venue for public commemoration.
2. TCV Day School ground: the actual commemoration of the Black April-Fall of Saigon was organized at the TCV Day school grounds. It was attended by a large number of local Tibetans and visiting tourists of all nationalities.
3. Setting of the stage: a huge black sheet of horizontal pamphlet was erected on a solid base of football goal post on which was written in bold white script words:
40th Black April, Remembering the Fall of Saigon, 30th Black April 1975 by Vietnam Tibet Alliance,” McLeod Ganj in front of the audience at the centre of the school ground. On the right and left of the impressive billboard are flags of Vietnam and Tibet. Both the standard Tibetan flag and the yellow Vietnamese flag with three red stripes looked amazing.
4. Mr Lobsang Wangyal, a popular figure in McLeod Ganj, was the MC for the occasion.
He conducted the function in a dignified way with a touch of simplicity, grace and elegance. At the very outset he announced and directed the august public gathering to stand up and observe “a minute’s silence” to remember the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for Vietnam and to express support and solidarity with the 40th anniversary of the Fall of Saigon and commemorate 40th Black April.
5. On the request of Mr Lobang Wangyal, Mr Thupten Tenzin, the President of Vietnam Tibet Alliance read out the statement of official message shedding light on developmental background origin, aims and objectives and aspiration of the idea behind Black April commemoration.
6. Chief Guest: Mr Lobsang Wangyal requested the Chief Guest of the occasion Mr Gyari Thar, a member of Tibetan Parliament in Exile to address the public.
The Chief Guest spoke in Tibetan language that was simultaneously translated in English in a clear and inspiring tone using modern terminology like people-friendly by Mr Lobsang Wangyal the MC.
The Chief Guest thanked the organizer and the participants for joining hands in commemorating the 40th Black April in support of the people of Vietnam and demonstrates solidarity with the people and martyrs of Vietnam and for helping to cement friendship between Tibetan and Vietnamese people. In his address the Chief Guest observed there are some similarities and dissimilarities between Tibetan and Vietnamese struggle.
He said traditionally both the countries follow Buddhist religion. Communist Party rules both the countries. Communism as an ideology, he noted, was founded In the beginning with a good intent to serve poor and underprivileged section of the country but he said once the Communist zealots came to power it usurped monopoly in power and introduced a totalitarian system of Communist Party dictatorship and it ended up bringing unimaginable sufferings that can be summed up as bringing “Hell on Earth” where it prevailed and prevails. Vietnam have seen invasion by successive foreign power like French, American, Chinese and it continues to face threat to its national security and interest from its neighbour China across South China sea.
He said Tibet is an occupied country under alien rule and Vietnam is a sovereign nation. He drew the attention that people of Tibet and Vietnam aspire for freedom, human rights, democracy and rule of law. He exhorted Tibetan people to learn lesson from the relentless struggle by Vietnamese people at home and in Diaspora for freedom from subjugation and repression.
He expressed happiness and satisfaction over the proactive awareness campaign organized by McLeod Ganj based Vietnam-Tibet Alliance in highlighting common issues and challenges being faced by Vietnam and Tibet on a common platform and help bring better understanding and cooperation between the two communities.
He concluded his speech with a heartfelt thanks to the organizers and the public supporters saying but for lack of time he would have continued to address.
7. Special guest: Mr Lobsang Wangyal requested the special guest on the occasion Mr Chime Youngdung, the former member of National Democratic Party of Tibet (NDPT) and the founder of non-profit organization Tibetan Social Service to address the gathering.
Mr Chime noted that he supports Vietnam-Tibet Alliance for its struggle against Communist Party saying Communism was on paper built with honey sweet tongue but in reality there is a huge gap between its original theoretical ideology and actual ground practices that have wrought death, destruction, pain, miseries and oppression that is clear like writing on a wall.
He also acknowledged financial contribution made by Vietnam-Tibet Alliance founder Ms Nguyễn Thị Ngọc Hạnh from time to time to the different Tibetan non-profit non-governmental organizations based in McLeod Ganj.
He concluded his short but very forceful and meaningful speech by reading out the English version of the official statement of message to the public and the guests assembled at the venue commemorating 40th Black April anniversary of the military occupation of the US backed South Vietnam by Communist backed North Vietnam that is being commemorated since 1975 as the Fall of Saigon on 30 April 1975.
8. Last but not the least Mr Thupten Tenzin, the President of Vietnam-Tibet Alliance expressed his vote of thanks to the Chief Guest, Special Guest, and other dignitaries and public and the function was gracefully wound up successfully to the satisfaction of all with participants and speakers greeting each other and exchanging words of appreciation in good faith.A very special recognition and great honor to the Viet Nam - Tibet Alliance this time is sponsored by the LIÊN HIÊP DIÊN HỒNG THỜI ĐẠI - President Mr. Phạm Trần Anh of California. Without your generosity this very important day cannot be happened. Thank you from the bottom of our heart.

That’s MEDITATION…
There is a Tibetan saying:
484706_421594354604187_871654785_n“It’s a tall order to ask for meat without bones, and tea without leaves.” So long as you have a mind, there will be thoughts and emotions.

Just as the ocean has waves or the sun has rays, so the mind’s own radiance is its thoughts and emotions.
The ocean has waves, yet the ocean is not particularly disturbed by them.
The waves are the very nature of the ocean.

Waves will rise, but where do they go? Back into the ocean. And where do the waves come from? The ocean. In the same manner, thoughts and emotions are the radiance and expression of the very nature of the mind. They rise from the mind, but where do they dissolve? Back into the mind. Whatever arises, do not see it as a particular problem. If you do not impulsively react, if you are only patient, it will once again settle into its essential nature.

When you have this understanding, then rising thoughts only enhance your practice. But when you do not understand what they intrinsically are—the radiance of the nature of your mind—then your thoughts become the seed of confusion. So have a spacious, open, and compassionate attitude toward your thoughts and emotions, because in fact your thoughts are your family, the family of your mind.
Before them, as Dudjom Rinpoche used to say:
“Be like an old wise man, watching a child play.”

We often wonder what to do about negativity or certain troubling emotions. In the spaciousness of meditation, you can view your thoughts and emotions with a totally unbiased attitude.
When your attitude changes, then the whole atmosphere of your mind changes, even the very nature of your thoughts and emotions. When you become more agreeable, then theydo; if you have no difficulty with them, they will have no difficulty with you either.
So whatever thoughts and emotions arise, allow them to rise and settle, like the waves in the ocean. Whatever you find yourself thinking, let that thought rise and settle, without any constraint.
Don’t grasp at it, feed it, or indulge it; don’t cling to it and don’t try to solidify it. Neither follow thoughts nor invite them; be like the ocean looking at its own waves, or the sky gazing down on the clouds that pass through it.
You will soon find that thoughts are like the wind; they come and go.
*
The secret is not to “think” about thoughts, but to allow them to flow through the mind, while keeping your mind free of afterthoughts.
